Voluntary Licensing (VL)

With a voluntary license (VL) the rights holder negotiates the terms and conditions such as pricing, territory and sub-licensing.

• Rapid voluntary licensing is used to bring technology to manufacturers and users as quickly as possible while respecting regulatory approvals.
• Equitable Access (EA), also known as Global Access, aims to make healthcare technologies available and affordable to all, with a particular emphasis on lower and middle income countries. The ‘EA’ principal can be more broadly applied to other sectors; it is then sometimes referred to as Responsible Access.
