We’re happy to announce the launch of our toolbox and certified IMPAC3T-IP Academy™, designed to support intellectual property (IP) and licensing professionals in addressing shifting challenges across research, innovation, and technology transfer. The tools aim to provide licensing professionals with the means to generate greater impact from research results, often in cases where clear patentable outcomes are less obvious or undervalued.
The toolbox brings together a wide array of tools and resources, including:
- Guidelines,
- Checklists,
- Model agreements,
- Frameworks for managing co-creation and equitable technology access,
- A range of AI-powered tools.
Some tools are scenario-specific, while others are transversal and can be applied across scenarios and even beyond.
The three key scenarios reflect the realities of today’s licensing landscape, from considering non-traditional models to managing collaboration and ensuring access where it matters most:
- Classical Plus: considers licensing beyond patents to include a wider spectrum of intellectual assets, from digital datasets and creative works to know-how. It encourages approaches particularly suited to the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, where societal impact and accessibility are central.
- Crisis: develops equitable licensing solutions for emergency and systemic challenges, ensuring that technologies can be deployed where and when they are most needed, whether in response to pandemics, natural disasters, or ongoing health and environmental pressures.
- Co-creation: helps navigate the complexities of intellectual assets that arise when innovation involves multiple partners (universities, companies, public authorities, or communities). It supports fair participation, ownership, and benefit-sharing throughout the innovation process.
The IMPAC3T-IP Academy™ complements the Toolbox through a structured, certified training programme, offered free of charge across Europe throughout 2026. Participants gain recognised certification and can also access “train-the-trainer” pathways to disseminate learning within their institutions or with clients.
